For several years he farmed 250 acres alone with one tractor and some  help when pulling the levees. He farmed from 1947-2007. Along with farming, Jimmy raised cattle and in 1979 he started a herd of Registered Texas Longhorn Cattle which now numbers 200.

Jimmy was a member of several agricultural organizations which included American Rice Growers, Winnie Rice Farmers Cooperative Association, Chambers County Farm Bureau, Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America, International Texas Longhorn Association and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winnie.

My sincere condolences to the family and friends, so sorry for your loss. Please find comfort in knowing that Jehovah God will soon resurrect our dear loved ones (John 5:28-29). Oh how we long for the day when pain, suffering and death will be no more, these former things will have passed away (Revelation 21:3-5).

There are no words to express my sympathy to the family----and my love for Jimmy, my cousin!! Jimmy's dad was the oldest brother of my dad. We were all so very close!! My mother & I went to visit every summer for many years!! Jimmy was one year older than my brother, Bill. I admired Jimmy so very much as he faced the losses in his family! He was so special!! I live in OH, but called Jimmy frequently!! God be with each of you family members!!
