Manuel Mullenax

August 22, 1926 - October 13, 2017

After a long and fulfilling life, Manuel Mullenax, age 91, died on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born on August 22, 1926, to Minnie Allen Mullenax and James Mullenax in Huntsville. Upon graduating from Liberty High School, Manuel served in the U.S. Air Force as a belly gunner on a B-17. After receiving his B.A. degree in Accounting from Sam Houston, he went to work for Gulf Oil as a purchasing agent. In 1962, Manuel began his fifty-five year career with State Farm, achieving national status as a Top 50 agent.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Blake Joseph Mullenax; brother, Joe Mullenax; and sister Sue Mullenax Dean. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Jeanette McClosky Mullenax; his sons, David Mullenax and his wife, Charlene; Michael Mullenax and his wife, Rosemary; Don Mullenax and his wife, Donna; Kirk Mullenax, Greg Mullenax; daughter, Leslie Mullenax McDougald. Manuel has seven grandchildren, Matt Mullenax, Emily Mullenax, Megan McDougald Storms, Mollie McDougald Niemeyer, Michaela McDougald, Sara Mullenax House, Taylor Mullenax; and two great-grandchildren, Michaela Storms and Jackson House.

Family and friends are invited to Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, on Monday, October 16, 2017, to celebrate his life. Visitation starts at 5:00 p.m., followed by the 6:30 p.m. Christian Vigil. A funeral mass is set for Tuesday, October 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Helping Hands and Hearts, care of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 3429, Beaumont, Texas, 77704.
