Paul Francis Dupuis, Jr.

Paul Francis Dupuis, Jr., 85, a former resident of Bridge City passed from life through death and into eternity at his daughter’s home on Friday, October 13, 2017. He was born in Woodville, on January 19, 1932. He was the oldest son of Paul Francis Dupuis, Sr. and Ninnie Gertrude Best Dupuis.

Paul served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War achieving the rank of Airman First Class. Upon his discharge, he attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall and graduated with a B.A. in History and Psychology in 1957. In 1954 he was licensed to preach by the First Baptist Church in Warren and in 1957, he received his Certificate of Ordination by the Memorial Baptist Church in Marshall. He served as the pastor of small Baptist churches in Texas and Louisiana for over twenty-five years. During this time, he worked for the Texas Department of Welfare, Woodville Convalescent Center, and Dupuis Gulf station in Bridge City. After his marriage to May Dell in 1976, he went back to college at Lamar University where he obtained his Teacher Certification and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. He taught school at Huffman ISD for twelve years until he retired in 1996. He always put Christ first in his life and was a devoted to studying the word of God each and every day.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; wife of thirty-six years, May Dell Dupuis; and brother, Ronald Dupuis.

Survivors include his daughters, Diana Haralson of Warren; Deborah Hansen and her husband, Don; of Beaumont; and Donna Bridgers and her husband, Chris of Nederland; step-sons, Richard Hudgins of Kountze and Paul Hudgins and his wife, Debra, of Nederland; step-daughter, Fran Hudgins of Port Neches; brothers, J.R. Dupuis of Deweyville; Herman Dupuis and Kenneth Dupuis of Bridge City; and grandchildren, Alicia, Brian, Christopher, Danielle, Erin, Sarah, Marissa, Rikki Beth, Jessica, Taylor, Jacob, and Jennifer.

The family wishes to thank his caregiver, Connie Chow, for her loving care to Paul.

A gathering of Mr. Dupuis’ family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 16, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at Long Cove Cemetery, Lometa, Texas.
