Antoine Lee Stelly

Antoine Lee Stelly, 83, of Port Acres, departed Saturday, March 18, 2017. He was born on March 15, 1934, in Leonville, Louisiana, to Inez Degeyter Stelly and Alexis Stelly.

Antoine retired from Texaco after thirty years of service. He was the owner of  Cajun Corner in Port Acres and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Vergie Stelly; daughters, Karen Douglass and Christine Broussard and her husband, Bobby; sons, Wendell Newton, Toby Stelly, and Patrick Stelly and his wife, Evelyn; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and brother, Henry Harold Stelly and his wife, Ursula.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Becky Newton; son, Andy Newton; granddaughter, Wendy McNeil; brothers, Levan Stelly, Melvin Stelly, and Elvin Stelly; and sisters, Celita Chatlain, Bernice Ivy, and Verlie Mae Rice.

A gathering of Mr. Stelly’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his Rosary recited at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., at Lee Cemetery, Starks, Louisiana.
