Clifton J. Champagne

May 24, 1955 - June 22, 2017

Clifton J. Champagne, 62, of Winnie, died Thursday, June 22, 2017. He was born May 24, 1955, in Pasadena, to Audrey and Harold Champagne.  

Cliff was employed with Moran Towing for forty-three years. He was a licensed Marine Diesel Chief Engineer, Coast Guard approved and negotiated employee insurance, salaries and incentives. He traveled to Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut and the New England states for inspections of two new tug boats for Moran Towing; and responsible for sailing boats back to Moran dock at the Port of Port Arthur. 

Cliff and Sharon loved spending weekends at “La Camp” in Spurger, to fish and hunt. Best of all, they loved having their grandson, Gentry, spend the weekend with “Paw Paw” and “Ne Ne”. 

He is survived by wife, Sharon Dubose Champagne; daughter, Jacqueline Dunson and her husband, Travis; grandchild, Gentry Ellis Dunson; godchild, Phillip Edward Becker; sister, Roxanne Becker and her husband, Rickey; brother, Mark Champagne; father-in-law, Robert Dubose and his wife, Susie; mother-in-law, Rose Cormier; sister-in-law, Polly Clement and her husband, Glenn; brother-in-law, Bob Dubose and his wife, Lisa; numerous nieces; nephews; and many other friends and relatives. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Audrey and Harold Champagne; and brother, Douglas Champagne.  

A gathering of Mr. Champagne’s friends and relatives will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at Broussard’s Chapel, Winnie, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.
