Doyce Blaine Brigance

June 28, 1934 - March 26, 2017

On March 26, 2017, Blaine left us to join Monte Clyde and continue their brotherly shenanigans in heaven. A proud Gilchrist native, Blaine enjoyed fishing the gulf, crabbing off of Mcfaddin piers and spending time camping at Sea Rim with his family. He loved to tell stories of the “good ol’ days” and his adventures as a Navy sailor aboard the hull of the USS Neptune. His stories were captivating and most ended with the perfect line or joke. He used terms like “gal” and “darlin’” endearingly and had a smile for everyone. As an esteemed Scoutmaster for troop 527, Blaine has always been a mentor, teacher and friend to all. He was admired and deeply loved by his children Steven, Debbie Doll, and Cyndi Lou and a revered grandfather to Dylan, Victoria, and Jet. After retiring from Con Edison in New York City, Blaine spent his time in Fannett with his burros and longhorns at “The Ponderosa” with his longtime friend and companion Nelda Justice. There he enjoyed sunsets over the bayou and time spent with numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Please join us one final time for a gathering of family and friends to say “till we meet again,” to Blaine on Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, in Winnie, Texas. Services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, 1368 Weeks Lane, High Island, Texas.
