Green “Russ” Miller, Jr.

April 7, 1938 - June 16, 2017

Green “Russ” Miller, Jr., 79, of Kountze, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at his home.  He was born on April 7, 1938, in Silsbee, to Alma Gray Miller and Green Miller.  Russ was the owner and operator of Russ Miller Construction Company for over thirty years.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Patricia Register Miller; children, Laura Howard and her husband, J. Shane, of Montgomery; and Russell Miller and his wife, Cynthia, of Houston; grandchildren, Brent Hebert, Catherine Sattler, Austin Sattler, Russell Loren Miller, and Cydni Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, and one brother.

During his life, he vowed to never work for another man.  In that freedom, he became a friend and partner to many, quietly helping and serving those around him.  Those that knew him testify to his integrity, hard work ethic, and tough guy/teddy bear personality.

He loved his wife and his family; his focus and goal in life was their wellbeing.  In his unique and often humorous way he loved, taught, and held them close with his special kindness and strength.

Russ’ family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Kindred Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion during the final weeks of his illness.

A gathering of Russ’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 19, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at R.S. Farmer Memorial Park, Silsbee.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M., Beaumont, Texas 77701 or the church or charity of choice.
