JoAnn Jackson

JoAnn K. Jackson, 82, of Lumberton, died Thursday, March 9, 2017.  She was born on November 15, 1934, in Beaumont, to Callie Scruggs Kendrick and Roy L. Kendrick.

While JoAnn attended school, she won a spelling contest that consisted of four schools.  Later she managed three stores; S&M Outlet, $10 Fashion, and The Nook.  She also served over Precinct 16 voting at Lumberton United Pentecostal Church. 

Survivors include her children, Joe D. Tate and his wife, Joy; Grady Tate and his wife, Geraldine; and Judy Tomplait, and her husband, Doug, all of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James R. Jackson; sisters, Madie Kessinger, Molly Ellis, and Joy Hughes; and brothers, Roy Kendrick and Donald Kendrick.

A gathering of Mrs. Jackson’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at ForestLawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
