Karen Lindsey Hanson

November 29, 1954 - July 27, 2017

Karen Lindsey Hanson, 62, of Beaumont passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 29, 1954 to Dorothy Gaston Lindsey and Jiles C. Lindsey.  Karen was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and dear friend.  She was a retired U. S. Postal Worker and Texas Careers Registrar.  Karen was known for her kindness, loyalty and generosity.  She was a gentle, kind and thoughtful person who always found a way to help others.  She was an intelligent woman with a good sense of humor.  Karen fought cancer with a positive attitude and dignity.   

Karen is survived by her husband, Kyle Blake Hanson; daughter, Amanda Hanson and her significant other, Andre Francis, of Beaumont; parents, Jiles and Dottie Lindsey, of Jasper; sister, Madeline Lindsey McGallion, of Houston; sister, Melinda Lindsey Stapleton; brother-in-law, Clint Stapleton, of Jasper; sister-in-law, Kay Simon, of Phoenix, Arizona; six nieces, six nephews, nine grandnieces, nine grandnephews, and numerous friends.

Karen is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Lindsey Chauvin of Colmesneil, Texas.

As Karen wanted, her body was willed to The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston in hopes she could continue to make a difference for others.  Her eyes were willed to Baylor University for the Lions Eye Program.

A memorial service for Karen will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont, with a gathering of her family and friends to follow until 4:00 p.m.
