MY BROTHER, MY FRIEND, MY PROTECTOR

Ky Lynn Brown was My Brother, My Friend, My Protector and the Family Rock. I’ve received so may text and emails from everyone about the special memories they had of my brother and I’d like to share some with you.

Ky was the Best Guy I knew, but reading some of these post, he was no “Little Angel”. Growing up with Ky was fun, most of the time. He did get in trouble a lot because of the way he treated me. Tony D. said, “We got our butts tore up by George for being mean to Robin”. The neighborhood Boys, too many to name, were always into Trouble. As told by Jimmy E., “Even when they were just taking a break drinking an Icee on a hot day at Jones 7-11, a lucky throw from a neighborhood nemesis with a fist size rock, bloodying Ky badly, leads to a fight.” From shooting fireworks at a BPD patrol car leading to a High-Speed chase, “Borrowing” cases of Beer from some railway cars, to playing basketball at MacArthur gym at night and getting hauled off to the Police Station, where he had to call our dad, life was eventful. I remember the times my mom would chase him around the house with a broom stick until he grabbed it from her one day. That’s when the words “WAIT TILL YOUR DAD GETS HOME” were used, and they worked. But even as early as Elementary school, the teachers and school friends knew Ky was Special. I always knew Ky was My Protector but as we grew-up, it wasn’t just me he protected, it was other family and friends. Saving Brenda from a circle of girls wanting to jump her, to making sure the boys knew “Hands Off” his cousins, Valeria and Selita, when they came for a visit. He was always watching out for everyone. He got that trait from our dad. He was a South Park Greenie through and through and loved the town of Beaumont. So, it was no big surprise that in 1985, Ky joined the BPD. He loved his job and loved serving the People, but he wasn’t your typical run of the mill Police Officer. He was a Great People person and knew how to talk to them. It didn’t matter if you were Black, White, Good or Bad, Ky always made everyone feel like they mattered. He genuinely loved & respected everyone. I know throughout his years on the job, he got MANY family and friends out of Trouble. Thanks to Officer Burmaster, he even got our mom out of a speeding ticket.

There are countless more stories I could tell, but I think everyone knows Ky was Loved, Respected and will be missed by all!

Ky was a wonderful person, and a great cop. I am blessed to have known him and will always remember him and his family.. prayers t othe family and friend. Sad news came this weekend, with the passing of a wonderful guy A father, a husband, a brother, a Peace Officer, ascends to the sky He fault hard , and with all the prayers he received, But next to the Lord, he sits, I do believe For us who knew him, from our childhood neighborhood A Proud greenie, he was, proudly as he stood For those who met him, as a lawman, knew He would patrol our streets, keeping all the crime from you Sad news came to us all, loosing such a friend He will be up in heaven, patrolling again Waiting for us all to be by his side Never again will any of us have to hide

Ky was a great fraternity brother. Many of my memories from my pledge days at Sigma Nu involve Ky and the other "SP Trash" - Smirk, Malcom and Range. Ky was a tough man but also a good friend. To quote one of our Sigma Nu songs: The Sigma Nu's they like to live, but when it comes to die, You'll never hear them groan or moan, you'll never hear them sigh, They walk right up to the Pearly Gates, you bet your life they do, For at the gate they meet St. Pete and he's a Sigma Nu Rest in peace Ky - till we meet again in the Chapter Eternal.

My daughter was working at Lerner's while going to Lamar. She was being followed every where she went by a man she did not know. She called us about it and we went to the mall. I saw an officer down by sears and asked him for help. I explained my problem and he took it from there. We introduced him to our daughter, he told us to quit worrying that he would take care of this. Well I don't know what he told that guy but my daughter never saw him again. Ky Brown will always be in the Stuart's hearts. RIP KY

My heart is broken. He did so much while he was here and had so much more to do. Such a good man. I grieve along with his family, friends, and co-workers -- Brothers in Blue. .

one of my first memories of Ky was at a Christmas party held by Bert and Coog Gardner in Nederland. I didn't know he was my cousin then, but when I began playing baseball it became known to me he was my cousin. One day when he introduced me to his baseball buddies he announced "this is my cousin John.. if anybody messes with him I will kick your ass". From that day everyone called me cousin John! For the first time I felt I fit in. He was my hero! To me he was larger than life big, strong, smart and kind and fearless, everything I was to become to be just like him.. I love you Ky..

My sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time. May you all seek God for comfort, peace, strength and support (2 Cor 1:3).

Good day! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog. Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I'm thinking about setting up my own but I'm not sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions? Thanks
