Marilyn Olsen

October 9, 1929 - July 1, 2017

Marilyn Olsen, 87, of Silsbee, died Saturday, July 1, 2017.  She was born on October 9, 1929, in Silsbee, to Lucinda Sarah Murphy Moulder and Walter Lee Moulder.

Marilyn graduated from Silsbee High School and went on to graduate from Lamar College with a degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse up until her marriage to Charles. Once married, she became a homemaker and devoted mother. She traveled with her husband to many places throughout the United States and the world. She was very involved with her church, serving in many callings over the course of her lifetime.

Marilyn’s favorite pastimes included reading, sewing, cooking, gardening, antiquing, refurbishing furniture, and camping. But above all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Cindy Schooling of Silsbee; Pam Perkl and her husband, Larry, of Houston; and Ted Olsen and his wife, Karin, of Spring; grandchildren, Lief Goldsmith and Meagan Baker, both of Silsbee; and Claire Olsen, Max Olsen, and Jake Olsen, all of Spring; great-granddaughter, Zoei Goldsmith; sisters, Willie Lou Vaughn and her husband, Gordon; and Linda Moulder, all of Silsbee; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-three years, Charles Olsen; grandson, Joel Schooling; sister, Genevieve Cryer; and brother, Henry Charles Moulder.

A gathering of Mrs. Olsen’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 3, 2017, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 8622 FM 418, Silsbee, with her interment to follow at Moulder Memorial Gardens, Silsbee.
