Roger was a careful and observant field geologist who was passionate about his rocks at Duluth, Stillwater, and the Big Bend. He was generous with his time, ideas, and information. I appreciate the help he gave me when I was working on my PhD research at Stillwater in the early 1980s and all the collaborative work we did afterwards. It was a real privilege to have known and worked with him.
