Russell John Folse, Sr.

January 8, 1924 - August 30, 2017

Russell John Folse, Sr., 93 of Beaumont, entered into eternal rest with the Lord, Wednesday, August 30, 2017. He was born on January 8, 1924, to Lucille Chauvin Folse and Theodore Folse in Beaumont, and was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He met Theresa, the love of his life, upon returning home from the war and they were married November 23, 1946. Their 70-year legacy of love and commitment is the cornerstone of the family and continues to serve as an example to their children and grandchildren.

Russell, also known as Grandpa, Gramps, and PawPaw was dearly loved and a man of strong character. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and all of his grandchildren brought him great joy. He taught several generations to play dominoes and how to change the oil in their cars. He loved gadgets and could figure out how to fix anything. He was a gentle, humble man with a quick, dry wit and even during his last days he often gave those around him a chuckle with his clever humor. His faith in God, devotion to family, and dedication to his country will always guide the lives of his loved ones as he lives on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Survivors include his wife of seventy years, Theresa Folse; daughter, Janet Weaver of Houston; son, Russell “Rusty” Folse, Jr. of Lumberton; daughters, Kathy Adams and her husband, Beecher, of Nederland and Terri Sticker and her husband, Maury, of Kingwood; son, Thomas Folse and his wife, Carla, of China; daughter, Kim Richards and her husband, Jeff, of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Wesley Weaver; Jared Weaver; Christopher Folse and his wife, Bridget; Kelly Gallier and her husband, Raymond; Daniel Adams and his wife, Chelsea; Dana Adams; Shelli Wilder; Scott Sticker and his wife, Mimi; Rebekah Folse; Luke Folse; Payton Richards; and Trenton Richards; great-grandchildren, Addison Folse; Amber Conway; Kara DeJohn and her husband, Bryce; Justin Conway; Killian Wilder; Kai Sticker; and Ren Sticker; great-great-grandchild; Leighton DeJohn.

A gathering of Mr. Folse’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m., and a Rosary to follow, Friday, September 15, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. My deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Russell John Folse, Sr., whose humility and sense of humor were made evident among his children, one I know is my RD contemporary,Kathy. My thoughts are as follows from Corinthians 13;13: " IN THE END THERE ARE 3 THINGS THAT LAST- FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE, AND THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE."
