Winnie Hall

Winnie Jones Hall, 87, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017.  She was born on February 9, 1930, in Big Sandy, to Emma Blankenship Murphy and Jasper Murphy. 

 Mrs. Hall worked at Hardin County NDI and she also received the Community Service Award from the Silsbee Chamber of Commerce on April 7, 1981.  She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church since 1957.  She served as principal of VBS and the Women’s I Sunday School class.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Jones and his wife, Sherlon; Suzanne Powell; V.L. “Rusty” Jones, Jr.; Rodgel Daugherty and her husband, Chris; and Jeanie Harrison and her husband, Robert; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a very special friend of the family, Kenny Gibson.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband and father of her children, V.L. Jones, Sr. and husband, Arnilee Hall; sisters, Bertha Dillon, Vesta Overstreet, Essie Wiggins, and twin sister, Linnie Johnson; brothers, Jackson Eugene “Runt” Murphy, J.W. Murphy, and James Wayne “Spud” Murphy; and grandchild, Lynn Benefield.

A gathering of Mrs. Hall’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Friendship Baptist Church, 3601 Cooks Road, Silsbee.  Her funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday March 19, 2017, at the church, with her interment to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Silsbee.
