Alan Guy Smith

January 10, 1954 - May 4, 2021

Alan “Guy” Smith, 67, of Nederland, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Guy was born on January 10, 1954, in Port Arthur, Texas to the late, Rhoda Geneva Thompson Smith and Isaac B. “Ike” Smith. He enjoyed surfing, camping, and playing music on his electronic keyboard piano. Guy was adventurous and loved to go on camping trips with his buddies.

Guy was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Nederland, and a member of A.C.T.S. He worked for the Texaco Plant in Port Arthur, and Ameripol Synpol Plant in Port Neches. Guy was an avid fan of all sports, especially baseball. He played for local teams and enjoyed mentoring to the young. He also received the prestigious award of an Eagle Scout of The Boy Scouts of America.

Those left to cherish Guy’s memory include his brother, Jerry Smith and wife, Lois, of Nederland; cousins, Jim Dower and wife, Deb, of El Dorado Hills, California; and Ed Dower and wife, Donna, of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephew, Kevin Smith, Deborah Smith, of Nederland; niece, Rhonda Smith Kelley and husband, Kelly, of Beaumont; great nieces, Heather Neely; Amanda Smith; Kayla Smith; Hannah Smith; and great-nephews, Kristopher Kelley; Sean Kelley; and Brett Kelley.

Guy is preceded in death by his parents, and great-nephew, Dylan Matthew Kelley.

A Rosary will be recited for Mr. Smith at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. The burial of his cremated body will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves. Cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
