Allen Abshire, Sr.

January 23, 1939 - March 11, 2019

Allen Abshire, Sr., 80, of Port Arthur, died March 11, 2019, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born January 23, 1939, in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, to Rose Lee Davis Abshire and Cleveland Joseph Abshire. Allen was a United States Army veteran.

Survivors include his daughter, Cheryl Ann Bernal and her husband, Jesse, of Groves; sons, Allen Ray Abshire, Jr., of Rosharon and Jeffry Lynn Abshire and his wife, Brenda, of Victoria; grandchildren, Eddie Bernal; Rachel Winfree and her husband, Kevin; Dara Bernal; Hannah Bernal; Nathan Abshire and his wife, Tashia; Allena Abshire; Patrick Shaver; Joshua Shaver; and Ian Tyler; five great-grandchildren; brother, Clifford James Abshire, of Port Arthur; and sister, Vivian Lee Doyle, of New Llano, Louisiana; and numerous nieces and nephew.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laura Mearl Lott; brother, Charles Edward Abshire; daughter, Carolyn Michelle Abshire; and grandson, Dylan Karl Avery.

Mr. Abshire’s graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
