Harry Michael Carter

Harry Michael Carter, 70, of Nederland, passed away surrounded by his family Tuesday, May 15, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1947, in Lufkin to Dollie Bond Carter and Henry Clay Carter.

After graduating from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, he taught school for several years in Pt. Arthur. He then worked as a firefighter for the Nederland Fire Department for 26 years and served as a captain for 24 years.

Harry was an avid Harley Davidson fan and owned a Road King firefighter edition. As a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, he participated in many rides and rallies. He also enjoyed baking cookies, earning the nickname “Cookie Man”, and visiting with good friends and neighbors with a glass of wine.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Carter, of Nederland; Christi Carter of Houston; Tracy Pinney and her husband, Kevin, of Waco; Melinda Meeker and her husband, Mike, of Houston; grandchildren, Eleanor Meeker and Abigail Pinney; sister, Lynn Jones of Palestine; and his extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Murray and David Carter.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 18, 2018, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His graveside service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, 3098 Highway 69 North, Nederland.
