Hedwig "Hattie" Light

Hedwig Hattie Light, 97, of Beaumont, died Friday, October 9, 2020, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on March 25, 1923, in Brenham, to Mary Audejczek Wesneski and Steve Wesneski.

Hattie worked at Spears Grocery Store for many years. She grew vegetables, loved gardening, and was very good cook. Hattie raised chickens for many years and also enjoyed garage sale finds.

She is survived by her son, Travis Light, of Katy; Patricia Pickett, of Temple; siblings, Dorthy Wesneski and Anne Wesneski, both of Brenham, Alvin Wesneski of Houston, and Harold Wesneski, of Brenham. Grandchildren consisting of Christine Buxton and her husband Jeremy, and Joseph Barlow III, Jennifer Light and Christian Light; and host of other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Berfert H. Light; siblings, Angelina Carpenter; Steve Wesneski, Jr., Benny Wesneski, Jerry Wesneski, Willie Wesneski and Dennis Wesneski.

A gathering of Mrs. Light’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
