James Weldon Morrison

August 25, 1945 - July 10, 2021

James Weldon Morrison, 75, of Nederland, died Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital. He was born August 25, 1945, in Nederland, to Verdie B. Smith Morrison and Starlin Green Morrison.

James was faithful member of First Baptist Church, Nederland. He enjoyed listening to southern gospel music, hunting, and catfishing. He also loved to cook for his family. Most of all, James was a loving grandfather that cherished the moments he got to spend with his grandchildren, especially, during any of their events such as baseball, basketball, softball, and choir performances.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Morrison; sons, Kenneth Morrison and Kevin Morrison and wife, Angela; mother-in-law, Lillian Morgan; grandchildren, Tyler Morrison, all of Nederland; Austin Morrison, of Groves; Kaitlyn Morrison; and Victoria Morrison, both of Nederland; sister, Lurlene Alexander and husband, Travis, of Beaumont; and brother, Dwain Morrison and wife, Martha, of Nederland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Verdie and Starlin Morrison.

A gathering of Mr. Morrison’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1911 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, Texas.
