Jerry Burroughs

December 17, 1942 - July 1, 2020

Jerry Burroughs, 77, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Kountze Nursing Center. He was born on December 17, 1942, to Gertrude Smith Burroughs and Willie Clyed Burroughs in Stark, Florida. Jerry was owner and operator of ‘G&B Marine and Electrics’ and ‘G&B Petroleum’ in Beaumont. He was a veteran of the Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant of Quality Control after twenty-three years. 

Jerry loved to travel with his RV group of friends and take trips to Disney World with his grandchildren. He was passionate about serving the Humane Society with his time and energy through volunteer work. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed some good-natured teasing… he always said, “If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t pick on you!” Jerry was a giving and loving man. He was a good husband, father, and papaw, and he will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Maida Burroughs; daughters, Shanna Osborne and her husband, Ralph of Lumberton and Rachael Bridges and her husband, Mark of Denham Springs, Louisiana; son, John Palermo of Beaumont; sister, Judy Delarosa and her husband, Ruben of Baycliff; brothers, Mike Burroughs and his wife, Martha of Buna and Clyde Daniel Burroughs of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kassi Keith, Brittani Riley, Kaitlin Keith, Luke Bridges, and Seth Bridges; six great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene Burrows, Bill Burrows, Bobby Burroughs; and sisters, Betty Jo Burrows and Louise Burrows.

A gathering of Mr. Burroughs’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium. Please observe social distancing guidelines.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 Southeast 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, Florida 33131.
