Joye Busbee

September 18, 1931 - February 5, 2020

Joye Cobb Busbee, 88, of Beaumont, was born on September 18, 1931 to Rubye Volena Greene Cobb and Ralph Cobb, Sr., in Birmingham, Alabama. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, February 5, 2020.

Joye was a beautiful and amazing lady who lived her life to help others in many exceptional ways. She was a loving, devoted wife and best friend to her husband, Guinn, since their marriage in 1949. She was the perfect example of a loving mother to her six children, each of their spouses, children and grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy and she cherished them most on this earth. As a registered nurse, Joye devoted her career to counsel and encourage people to overcome addictions to drugs and alcohol. Her greatest pursuit was to know as much about God and His grace as she could possibly learn, and to invest her faith and fruits with others. Her encouragement was most evident through her years of teaching the ‘Joy Bible Study,’ where she dedicated her energy to draw people closer to The Lord. She could always be counted on for her prayers and her optimism that remained unchanging through the toughest of circumstances.

Survivors include her husband, L. Guinn Busbee; and daughter, Susan Hale and her husband, Greg, all of Beaumont; sons, David Busbee and his wife, Tatiana, of Houston; Reagan Busbee and his wife, Lezli, of Houston; Paul Busbee and his wife, Karri, of Lumberton; Dale Busbee and his wife, Dr. Kelli Busbee, of Slidell, Louisiana; and Travis Busbee and his wife, Melanie, of Dallas; brother, Howard Cobb, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Katharine Hale; Bryan Hale; Austin Busbee; Ethan Busbee; Nazli Busbee; Fabrizio Castillo; Scotty Busbee; Morgan Dixon and her husband, Dr. Linden Brook Dixon; Blaire Busbee; Meagan Robin; Malloree Gjerde and her husband, Mason; Lauren Busbee; Matthew Busbee; Madeline Busbee; Noah Busbee; Brooke Busbee; and Seth Busbee; and five great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Arlene Gilliland and brothers, Ralph Cobb, Jr., Gregory Cobb, Jan Cobb, and Bill Cobb.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, February 8, 2020, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, 2020, at Broussard’s with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

She will be greatly missed on this earth, but never forgotten. We are so thankful for the years we cherished her here with us, but we look forward to spending eternity with her in Heaven.

L. Guinn I am sorry about your loss of Joye. My prayers and sympathy to you and your family at this sad time. I am sorry that over our banking careers that we did not visit more about our families and the memories we both have. My grandmother was Nannie Busbee Brown, great aunts were Alma "Aunt Love" Busbee Seagraves and Nellie Busbee Brown as I remember them. So know that I have thought of you and your family often and sad that we did not share more memories. Your family will bring much comfort for you.

My husband, Harold, and I thank God for bringing Joye and Guinn into our lives. Years of friendship, love, and Bible Study bound our hearts together with cords that will not be broken. We mourn the passing of our dear friend but rejoice in the HOPE set before us. We will be together again soon to celebrate around the throne of God! Joye's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Our prayers are with the family now for God's peace and JOY to flood your soul. Thank you Joye for giving to the Lord! I am a life that was changed by knowing you.

We live around the corner from Mr and Mrs Busbee. Every time we were outside, they would stop and say hello and ask about my Dad, Charlie McCleskey. We will miss her sweetness and beautiful smile. So very sorry for your loss.

Prayers of comfort to all of Joye'so family. I knew Joye thru the Joy Community Bible Study at Cathedral Church. She was veryour well liked and respected for her excellent knowledge of scripture which she shared with us often. She seemed to always have a deeper meaning that provided a better understanding of God's word in our study. She was a dear sweet lady who will certainly be missed by everyone.
