Julian Owens-Miller

June 23, 1999 - July 3, 2019

Julian Thomas Owens-Miller, age 20, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019, on his way to go fishing with his best friend in Port Arthur, Texas.

Julian was a free spirit with the purest of hearts. He had a bold personality and never met a stranger. He could make quick friends with anyone, young or old. Julian loved listening to music, going to concerts, and strumming his guitar. He had a huge smile that could light up a room, and a laugh that roared deep from his belly. His beautiful, big baby blue eyes could charm anyone who looked into them. He kept everyone around him smiling and laughing with his quick wit and great sense of humor. Julian had a deep old soul and loved to ponder and discuss all the complexities of life. Julian was a loving son, protective older brother, and loyal friend.

Julian graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School in 2018 and attended Lamar Institute of Technology. A true dreamer, Julian was fascinated with many subjects including marine biology, rocket science and architecture. His most recent dreams were to learn to be an electrician and to open his own restaurant. Julian loved being with his family. He had a truly special bond with his Grandma Jody and Grandpa Mac, who were always his biggest cheerleaders. Julian was also a seasoned traveler and loved to explore new places with his Father Dustin, Mimi Judy and Grandpa Larry. He carried on the family tradition of saltwater fishing, which he enjoyed doing with his Dad Allen and Grandpa “Captain” Richard.

Julian volunteered countless hours with the iRule Dance Studio in Beaumont and loved watching their shows. What originally started as simply supporting his younger sister, turned into Julian finding a true tribe of great people who loved and supported him. Julian also found love, support, and many friendships through the Celebrate Recovery program at First Baptist Church in Beaumont.

Julian is survived by his parents, Allen and Toni Robertson of Sour Lake and Dustin and Deidre Miller of Beaumont; siblings, Jenna Robertson of Sour Lake and Taylor Fernie, Benjamin Miller and Eleanor Miller all of Beaumont; grandparents, Maclyn and Jody Owens, Larry and Judy Tillery, Peggy Robertson, Richard Robertson, and Barry and Xialing Miller, all of Beaumont; great- grandparents, Lela Williams of Beaumont and Denzil Robertson, Jr. of Jasper; aunts and uncles, Ross and Rebecca Owens of China, Tara Miller of Phoenix, April and Britt Simoneaux of Beaumont, and Thomas Robertson of Beaumont; and numerous other family members and friends.

A gathering of Julian’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Time of Sharing from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Beaumont’s First Baptist Church, 3739 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson, Beaumont. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Baylor Wiebusch, Sean Crouch, Joey Rodriguez, Ashton Lunsford, Mason Dodd, and Jeron Carrol. A family committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the iRule Dance Foundation for the Julian Owens-Miller Scholarship Fund, mailed to 4305 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77706, or to Celebrate Recovery through their website at www.fbcbeaumont.org/donate.

Toni I’m am so sorry to hear this and am sending my deepest condolences to you and your family. I can’t even begin to imagine what y’all are going through. Someone once told me that God has a job for all of us and that some of us get done with our jobs earlier than others. I always think about that when confronting loss and at some point it does bring me comfort. Hopefully it will you too. Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers.

I know the emptiness and pain in the gut that you are experiencing, and I just hate that you ALL are going through this.tragic experience. Embrace the shock that you are experiencing now; it is a great cushion to bind you all through the funeral. Be at peace knowing he is in a better place and soaring with the angels. Julian was like a brother to my granddaughters. He was their protector and last year, after a breakup right before her prom, Julian was there for her. I had the honor of driving him out to Shiner,TX for the prom and enjoyed the passionate story he told about the Rocket Building Class he had taken at school. Recently, Julian and his family attended my granddaughter's graduation and spent Memorial Day weekend together. Julian's dad, Allen and my daughter, Natalie are lifelong friends, and my granddaughters shared with me that they will miss the opportunity to have the same kind of lifelong friendship with Julian. Prayers of peace and comfort for Julian's family and friends.
