A terrific lady , Mom of my best friend has passed... Mrs. Strait was a treasure to say the least.. In high school I spent many afternoons after school at the Strait home. Mrs. Strait was always saying that I needed to stay for dinner because she thought I was to thin. She was a great cook and I always appreciated her kindness and hospitality.. She was a good athlete also.. I taught her and Mr. Strait Tennis at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center .. She had a good doubles game. She was always upbeat and nice. She, I believe lived a fulfilled life. Raised 3 kids who are top notch and are good people.. I know the angels in heaven rejoiced welcoming her there. She is one of the last of “The Greatest Generation “. A tough generation that made America great. She will be missed by all. God Bless..

Oh what a wonderful ODE to Mrs. Strait! She has been in my life for 58 years and I will miss her wonderful voice saying JANIE!!!! whenever I would see her. She was a wonderful person and she will be missed terribly. I know you are having a great reunion with my mom(Doris) and dad(Freddie) Clark in Heaven AND I'm sure you and Jan Bolton are already on the courts playing your best game ever! I can’t begin to express how truly blessed our family is to have such an amazing Grandmother like you. I was just thinking the other day how you used to bathe me in your sink, swing me on the swing, brush my long blonde hair, drive me and Cody to Toys R Us, take us to the skating rink so Cody and I could win a coke for being the fastest skater,, spend every Christmas holiday week with you growing up, and admiring the way you cooked. Grenny the memories can go on and on. I’m so thankful that God chose you to be my Grenny and to always have you just a drive or a phone call away when I needed something.. Everyone you came into contact with admired you and always talked highly of you. I always felt so proud that you were my Grenny. It wasn’t too long ago that we were both laughing and sharing funny memories. Our favorite that we discussed often was when you say something and that’s it, period, end of discussion. You had this saying when I was little that you said, “Kate when I say it’s black it’s black.” And one day when I was young I decided to tell you that I changed the color.” I can still her your voice saying my name, “Kate” or “Katie”, which you rarely called me unless I was in trouble. My heart is sad that your gone and to be honest it doesn’t even feel real. I don’t think reality has set in quite yet. I wish I could have one last hug and one last kiss to say goodbye and just one last time to hear your Cajun accent, which I absolutely loved!. I love you Grenny. I don’t know if heaven allows request, but if so, I would like to make a special request to have you along with others greeting me as I arrive to Heaven one day. It is hard to believe we are without our Granny now. She always lit up any room she walked into, deeply loved those dear to her, and valued what’s important - family and friends. When we had our daughter, Brooke, Granny always referred to Brooke as her “pumpkin.” I will miss hearing her say that. I am so grateful my second daughter, Emma, got the opportunity to meet Granny. It brought Granny so much joy to meet her great grandchildren and I am so happy I was fortunate enough to witness that. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, I looked forward to getting together with our family and Granny’s presence brought light and laughter every year at these family gatherings. I have the fondest memories with her that I will keep in my heart forever - family vacations in New Braunfels, shopping, Mazzio’s lunch dates, pedicures, and my favorite is all of the times she picked me up from school when I was in middle school. We will miss her so much. Mr. Strait, my forever buddy, Bev, BD and Billy June. Junnie was such a big part of my family. She loved us like we were her own. My grandchildren loved there “crazy lady”with their whole heart. There are so many memories that I will cherish forever. I will miss Junnie . I do know she and Mom, Alice and Pete and Mama Hornsby are having the best time talking about everything possible. My heart is sad because I didn’t get to tell her how much I loved her. I think Junie knew my love for her and her beautiful family is forever. Aunt June was such a special lady. I will miss her laugh and her great sense of humor. She was very hospitable to Larry and I when we lived near by and I always felt that I was welcome at any gathering she was a part of . I always liked June. She was a sweet little lady with a big heart. I know she loved tennis at one time in her life and being a fellow tennis player I remember seeing her on the tennis court. She was a great cook! On occasion being at Lynn and BD's house, she and Bill would bring food. I loved her "potato delish"! That's one recipe I had to have. The last time we had a conversation, catching up with her was easy. She was always friendly to me and so easy to talk to. She was loved by all and will be truly missed. I'm sad she's gone but know she's in a better place. Hopefully cooking up a batch of "potato delish"!

I always think of Aunt June as being so much fun! She would light up the room with her personality! My mom (Inez) always looked forward to Aunt June and Uncle Bill's visits. I don't even know where to start on how much Granny meant to me and the rest of our family. There are so many memories that I will never forget and will always hold close. I will never forget her smile, laugh or her hugs. I'll miss dancing in the kitchen with her while she cooked gumbo. Granny, I will miss you very much. I enjoy everyday I ever spent with you as A child and as an adult. I cherish all the memories we made together, when my parents would drop me off at your house and we would spend the day together running errands, going to lunch, going to baseball card stores, toy stores, hot cakes in the morning. I miss that only you and me liked the licorice jelly beans that you always had a jar of them. June you were a very special & loving person, I got to know June & Bill through Trinity UMC and the Trinity Army mission work group.....Being as Bill worked and drew up the wheelchair ramp plans for Trinity Army, there were times June would go with Bill & myself to measure and set up plans for jobs..... Also as Bill would have the ramp drawings nearly finished, he would ask me to come over & check out his work.....this was a Treat for me, for not only did I get to check the work of this guy that was a professional, June was always around the house and at times she had cake or pie......what a Treat..... Usually where you would see Bill, June was also with him...........Usually after Trinity Army finished a job we would go for lunch as a group, Bill made sure to call June to have lunch with us..... June was a delightful and Loving person, I'm sure God has a special place in Heaven for her............May she rest in Peace...... Our Prayers & Blessings go out to Bill and the Family....... I'm so very sorry to hear about Mrs. Straits passing. I have a very fond memory of June Strait that goes all the way back to when I was a child as a Cub Scout. She was a great den mom. We as kids were very blessed to have the parents we had and grow up in a time when the neighborhoods were as they were. Dear Granny, I truly loved getting to know you, hearing your stories, and spending time with you. You were such a joy to everyone you were around, and always brought happiness with you wherever you went. I have so many vibrant memories with you, and often think of the times when we would just hang out in the back yard of your house on a hot Beaumont day, catching up about who knows what, watering the plants barefoot sometimes dousing them in water with the hose soaker to keep cool. We would also have so much fun going to the grocery store, browsing the aisles looking for the ingredients for the next delicious meal you had in mind for the family. I still make your corn casserole to this day, as it has become a staple for bringing to a friend’s house or making for family, and I always proudly say “this is Granny’s secret recipe”. I really enjoyed our time spent together cheering on sports teams and will always remember how intensely passionate you would get during football games. I am so glad you were able to meet my wife Hannah and welcome her to the family as one of your own. She loved getting to know you as well, and always looked forward to our trips to visit. I hope you are enjoying your endless supply of Cherry Strudel “end pieces” in Heaven, just like you did during those early New Braunfels mornings. Love you so much, John Ryan, JR, “The Dog”

Growing up in Maplewood was magical, in large part due to the fact that we all had a second Mom in June Strait. Being so close in age to B.D. and Billie, and living so near to you all, I was very fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time with you all. June had the most perfect Cajun accent, a funny, infectious personality, and a desire to see all of us succeed. She called me "Robe" just like my friends did and rooted almost as hard for me playing baseball as she did for B D She was inspirational and the she will be truly missed. Love you guys. Robe.
