I will always remember Smitty as our most responsible and dependable classmates. He was always there for us all, and I hate to think about Lumberton without him. I wish Kathy and their boys the best and I am truly sorry for their loss.

I will always see Smitty as the sweet little boy as I first knew him, but also the enthusiastic athlete that played football for Lumberton in their early years. My love and sympathy to Kathleen and the boys. He will be missed.

I have so many memories of "Smitty." He was always one of the most friendliest people in town. We played football together in the old days and he was certainly a team leader. Everyone looked up to Smitty. His endeavors on earth will always be remembered, and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this time of loss. The world was a better place with Larry Smith in it. RIP "Smitty"

Kathy, I am so sad for you and your boys. Smitty was such a nice guy in high school. And his sweet mom made the BEST HOMEMADE ROLLS I’ve ever eaten!! Wonder if she taught Smitty to make them?? May God comfort you and your family as only He can do. Love you, my sweet friend!!

I will always remember Smitty's kindness and smile. Although I was several years behind him in school, he would always greet us underclasses with sincerity, standing out as an example of having compassion and integrity. And, being such an important player for our beginning football team made him stand out even more. I am sorry for your loss, and will be in prayer for peace for your family.

It’t Hard to imagine Lumberton without Smitty. He was one tough athlete, but always the most polite, gentlest friend. And even after years of not seeing him and Kathy, when I would run into them around town or at band events it was like we were back in high school. Kathy and your boys, my heart breaks for you as you move forward in the days to come. I hope you will find comfort from all of your family and friends who loved Smitty. You’ll be in my prayers.

I was fortunate to be Michael's first grade teacher. After reading all the comments about Larry, I can say he was an excellent role model for his sons. Michael was sweet and a leader in the class. I always enjoyed talking with Larry and Kathy. I will pray for peace and comfort for Kathy and the boys.
