Lela Touchet

July 17, 1934 - November 3, 2017

Lela Touchet, 83, of Nederland, died Friday, November 3, 2017, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. She was born on July 17, 1934, in Church Point, Louisiana, to Eudea LaBouve and Jean Faul.

Lela enjoyed crocheting, cooking and praying the Rosary. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and Ma-Ma Lela.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia DeVillier and her husband, Louis, of Groves; sons, Leander Touchet, Jr. of Nederland and Benjamin Touchet and his wife, Carolyn, of Lake Charles, Louisiana; grandchildren, Jessica Allen, Brandon DeVillier, Kasie Resweber, Jonathan Touchet, Heather Monk, and Randa Sampere; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Rita Hebert and her husband, Walter, of Eunice, Louisiana.

Lela is preceded in death by her parents, Eudea and Jean Faul; husband of fifty-four years, Leander Touchet; sisters, Rosella Faul, Rosaline Higginbotham, and Margie Lavergne; and brother, Emery Faul.

A gathering of Mrs. Touchet’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with her Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland, with her interment to follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County, Nederland.
