Linda White

December 15, 1951 - September 12, 2020

Linda White, 68, of Double Bayou, died Saturday, September 12, 2020. She was born on December 15, 1951, to Annie Murl Hill and Albert Smith in Anahuac, Texas.

Linda will be remembered by her family for her strength and love as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Memories of her cornbread dressing, dancing to her favorite songs on the jukebox, and fondness of her December birthday parties at Double Bayou Community Building, will always bring smiles to the faces of all who adored her. In her younger years, she was a free spirit with a contagious laugh that won the hearts of many friends and colleagues, including those from Brown and Root with whom she worked for more than 20 years. Linda was a member of St. Paul United Methodist church, where she taught bible school, served as church treasurer, and celebrated her faith through song in the choir. She was passionate about her home improvements, and loved sewing, playing the piano, and seeing new places through travels with her family. Her greatest joy though in most recent years was being “Mimi” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, through whom her legacy will live on forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Albert & Annie Smith; brothers, Tommie Smith, Albert Smith, Jr.; grandson, Christian Todd Albert White. Her love and memories will forever remain in the hearts of her husband of 48 years, Mayes White of Double Bayou; daughter, Chandra Black of Beaumont, TX; sons, Milton Todd White and his wife Dianne of Double Bayou; Mayes Milton White, Jr. of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Kamryn & Braylin Black of Beaumont, Celeste LeAnn White (DeMarcus) of Anahuac, Josiah White-Sutton of Killeen, TX; great-grandchildren, Christian Layne White, Ryder Slade Alfred White, Nikolai Agapito White of Anahuac; brothers, John Wayne Smith of Wallisville, TX; Richard Smith (Linda) of Anahuac; sister, Susie Lewis of Anahuac; mother in law, Theresa White of Beaumont; sister in laws, Linda Valyan of Beaumont, TX, Carolyn White of Houston, TX and Betty Isadore (Ernie) of Beaumont, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A gathering of Mrs. White’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2020, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 336 Church Road, Anahuac, under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Martha Godfrey Cemetery, Double Bayou.

Mayes I am so sorry for your loss. I remember meeting your mom years ago before you even moved in next door to me. She had come by to check on your house. I believe she had one of her grand daughters with her. She was so friendly and kind and we talked about Beaumont and Anahuac. Because I met her before meeting you I knew I was going to have an awesome next door neighbor (I wish you were still there). Please share my condolences with all who love her. Mary
