Nancy White

May 15, 1948 - January 18, 2019

In the early morning hours of Friday, January 18, friends and family said their final goodbyes to Nancy Barnett White. Born May 15, 1948, Nancy, who grew up in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, was known for an insatiable appetite for reading and preparing some of the finest meals a person could ever know. As you read this, Nancy is laughing and catching up in a joyous reunion with her dad, Billy Neal Barnett; her mom, Adele LeBlanc Roberts; and her sister, Mary Sue Bruce (world renown for her tamales and pumpkin rolls) along with people she has never met, yet will recognize immediately. She is talking with Grace, a baby too perfect to be in this world.

Approaching near sainthood, Nancy was an unbelievable wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. There are a million jokes about mother-in-laws: she isn’t one! She is the exception. Her passing, although unexpected, allowed those of us fortunate enough to have the privilege of her in our life to enjoy one small merciful gift from God. Family and friends were allowed time to say their goodbyes and a few special angels walking among us were allowed to sing to her before she departed a weak and failing body for a perfect body in Heaven. God’s timing is always perfect: and in the days prior to her passing, her kids and grandkids were afforded an invaluable opportunity to fellowship with Nancy in what seemed to be her finest hours. She was radiant, vibrant, beautiful, and encouraging. God gave us some of the most perfect last memories.

She is survived by her husband of almost 49 years, Clark White (who fell for her in the second grade!) and who saw firsthand an “old-school” type of commitment to marriage that is all too rare these days. Her daughters, Tara Audilet and Kelly Jackson, along with two undeserving sons-in-law, Justin Audilet and Justin Jackson, will carry her in their hearts forevermore, remembering all the moments in the kitchen together as a family, stories about the “crazy” ones their family, and even a few times of trial that now seem funny. Mimi, to her grandkids Avery, Fallyn, Knox, and Finley, was simply another name for a grandmother who gave them all more hugs and kisses than most humans can endure.

However, being an amazing person wasn’t the point of her life and the reason God made her. She was here in each of our lives to show us “The Jesus Thing”. If anyone exemplified living out the teachings of Jesus, it was her. Peaceful, forgiving, serving everyone before herself, compassionate, and gentle.

A gathering of Mrs. White’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. At 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, a celebration of Nancy’s life and a time of giving thanks to God for lending her to us as long as he did, will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont. She loved Calvary and every kid who attended. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Sour Lake.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Calvary Children’s Department, 3650 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706; or to the St. Anne Catholic School Library, P.O Box 3429, Beaumont, Texas 77704, in her memory and in honor of her love for reading.

Nancy, we love you and you have changed our lives for the better. There is no reason we deserved you but are eternally grateful to have known you. See you soon…

I am so very sad to learn of Nancy’s passing. I grew up across the street from Nancy and her parents and have many fond memories if seeing all the family gathered on the front porch. Nancy and I kept up with each other on Facebook and I’ve loved seeing her pics of the family and grandkids. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy, Darin & Mallory and all the family. .

When I think about Nancy, I think of true kindness. She loved children and they loved her. I used to watch her read to the SLE students in the library as my room was just across the hall. There eyes were glued to her and she smiled that pleasant, warm smile as they watched and listened. No matter. where I ran into her she would smile and converse as if we had never missed a day of seeing each other. Those days were too few and far between... but the days I remember are the days we shared as mothers to daughters in the same grade, teachers together and members of the same community. Her family often came to the high school basketball games to support good ol HJ even though no immediate family was playing. I will hug her girls and grandchildren when I see them. . She will be in our hearts forever. Love and prayers to Clark and the entire family.

The perfect picture of a true southern belle, Nancy was a beautiful lady, inside and out.. I loved her gentle, genuine smile., the way she always made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. As a young woman in the church, I looked up to her as the model of what a good Christian woman was supposed to be. She was a professional woman, a great mother to two very active girls, ran a tight household and still was very active in church. And she made it all look so easy. That smile. Those warm accepting eyes. Always an encouraging word. She brought light wherever she went. She will be missed.....and losing her would be unbearable if we didn’t know with certainty exactly where she was. She isn’t “lost”. We didn’t “lose” her. She just went on ahead of us in the journey. There will come a day when God will turn your mourning into dancing as you see her waiting in heaven with open arms and that great big smile. We send you love, hugs, and prayers.

Winston and Dorty Coates

Praying for all of you during this time and the days ahead.

Kelly, Tara, and Clark, It is impossible to think of Nancy and not smile. She brought love and joy into every space she entered. The stories she told were so colorful, funny, and vivid they are impossible to forget. Not to mention her laughter, which was heard often through the halls of SLE. I am so sorry for your loss. Love, Jacki

Sweet Mrs. Nancy was a true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. I will always remember her beautiful smile. She and Mr. Clark made it easy to leave my babies in the church nursery. I’m so thankful for her life, her ministry to others and the love of God that she radiated to everyone around her. Heaven has gained an angel.

Kevin snd Paula LaGrone
