Renee Hayes

October 20, 1927 - March 8, 2018

Renee Yeates Hayes, 90, of Beaumont died March 8, 2018. Born October 20, 1927 in Huntington, Texas, the third child of the six children of Leon & Myrtle McMullen Yeates, she was a resident of Beaumont for over seventy years.

In March of 1947 she married the love of her life, James Layton Hayes. Together they raised three children and were the proud grandparents of seven adoring grandchildren.

From her time spent forging lifelong friendships in the Minglewood subdivision of Beaumont to hosting fish fries and costume parties to weeks upon weeks spent enjoying Crystal Beach, she truly knew how to enjoy life.

“Nee”, as she was lovingly known, was the very happiest when surrounded by her family anywhere they were together.  In addition to the wonderful relationships she had with her children and grandchildren, she remained incredibly close to her brother and sisters throughout their lives—their bond was like no other.  She missed them all terribly.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by brother Juan Yeates and wife Bennie; sisters Rhozine Tucker and husband Jack, Azelle Denum, Juanita Sisks and husband Robert, and Charlotte Slack and husband Billy; niece Brenda Yeates; and son-in-law Michael Tyndall.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her children Jim Hayes and wife Laura of Beaumont, Lissa Tyndall and Larry Busceme of San Miguel de Allende and Beaumont, and Shanna Moore and husband Randy of Conroe; grandchildren Layton Hayes of Los Angeles, California, Anne Tyndall of Beaumont, Hunter Hayes and wife Abha of Washington, D.C., Laura Forni and husband Carlo of Houston, Lydia Harris and husband Alex of Durham, England, Sally Earwood and husband Brad of Columbus, Mississippi, and Marion Hayes of Houston; great-granddaughters Anne Lowry Earwood and Elizabeth Hayes Earwood of Columbus, Mississippi; sister Myriam Brown and husband Bobby of Columbia, South Carolina; brother-in-law Robert Denum of Lufkin; and fifteen nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hayes was surrounded by her loving family in the hours leading up to her death.  She left this earth the same beautiful, strong, gracious woman she always was and will be greatly missed.

A gathering of Mrs. Hayes’ family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Our family would especially like to thank Martha Jackson and Nora Ceaser for the tender care and love they gave “Miss Renee”.  We also want to thank the staff of Harbor Hospice for the comfort they provided our mother.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Some Other Place, P.O. Box 0843, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
