Ruben Strother, Sr.

August 6, 1962 - June 24, 2020

Ruben Fletcher Strother, Sr., 57, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born on August 6, 1962, in Angleton, to Ruby May McCallay Strother and Fletcher Strother. Ruben was a sporting goods sales associate at Silsbee Walmart and he also was a member of Silsbee Fire and Rescue.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Strother; children, Larry Allen Strother and his wife, Tiffany; Ruben Strother, Jr., and his wife, Britni; and Amber Strother, all of Silsbee; brother, Jessie Sallas; sisters, Sandra Patton and Audrey Ledesma; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Nathan Strother.

A gathering of Mr. Strother’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

He was the example of an old fashioned sales person who went the extra mile to help the customer. Even when I saw him threw out the store. He always called me by name and asked how I was doing.
