Susie Hesseltine

November 28, 1944 - May 3, 2021

Susie Hesseltine, 76, of Beaumont, died Monday, May 3, 2021. She was born on November 28, 1944, in Rockport, to Evelyn Warden and John Jess Williams.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Donny Hesseltine; daughters, Tammy Lake and her husband, Ray; and Pam Romero and her husband, Daniel; grandchildren, John Wyble and his wife, Rayann; Donny Wyble and his wife, Lindsay; Ryan Romero; Jeremy Lake; and Misty Barras and her husband, Brooks; great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Attaway, Jase Wyble, Rylee Wyble, Cooper Wyble, Brock Wyble, Gunner Lake, Londyn Lake, Bailee Barras, Brycen Barras, and Bentley Barras; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald Foy Hesseltine; brothers, Johnny Williams, Leo Williams, and Ronny Williams; and sister, Joyce Land.

Susie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, aka memaw. Her and Don had a love for the beach that only grew over the years. She called the beach her “happy place” where they spent countless weekends over the years fishing, shrimping and entertaining family with some of the best grilled food, fried & bbq seafood you could imagine.

She had a love for her family that was immeasurable & always looked forward to those times together & celebrations. Her love for her grandchildren, memaw’s pride and joy, was so great. She always said she never knew she would have a love that could compare to the love of her three children, until she became a memaw.

Lastly, she and Don would become known as Lois Lane and Superman. Their love story spans 60 years and the true test of time and life’s tribulations. He said she rescued him, but she said he was her hero. They have been inseparable over the years. Even in the hardest of life’s moments, the last two years, they have continued to share a love that most of us will never know and only dream about. With each hospitalization, he would tell the doctors to get the “love of his life” well. He stayed by her side 24/7, caring and loving. She would say, he is one of a kind. There is no one like my Donny.
