God Bless, Father Jack. We really loved you, and enjoyed your filling in at St. Stephen's Church in Liberty several years ago. Even when you made my Choir go sit in the front pews so you could keep an eye on them..... May you Rest in Peace.....Love you. Jim Sterling, Choirmaster, St. Stephen's Church, Liberty TX

Jack and I would walk Ginger and my dog Willa Mae around Woodpark. The dogs did not always get along, but they enjoyed the walk. Jack was a democrat and I supported Trump, but we were still good friends. Saturday morning he told me of the pain he was having with his tooth. One good day, one bad. He was a great gentleman and we will miss him.

Fr. Jack, Robert and I will always be grateful for the time you spent with us and all the help you gave us on our spiritual journey. We hope you and Debbie are cruising around heaven finding those who still can use a stone in their shoe.

First of all, Jack was my friend, a reliable source of bare-bones honesty, courageous self-examination, intelligent stimulation and good humor. Over the several years while jack served as Rector at St.George's, Port Arthur and later at St.Stephen's in Beaumont, he was a steady and enthusiastic supporter of St.Matthew's chaplaincy on the Lamar University campus and my valued mentor as Chaplain there.. Jack and I shared many a lively discussion about theology, the Education for Ministry program out of University of the South (Sewanee), Jungian and Gestalt psychology, and a whole bunch of other stuff not typically on the standard clergy reading lists. We jibed and insulted each other with great delight on a steady basis. Jack was well-rounded and singularlyun-stuffy.. Most refreshingly, Jack was Jack, straightforward and unapologetically Jack. I very much appreciated Jack's acceptance and encouragement of me as a peer. I learned just a whole lot of useful stuff from Jack ( both ecclesiastical and worldly.) He was a fearless teacher who never hid behind his collar or assumed that being priested made him any holier than any other regular, run-of-the-mill human being. Jack was smart and savvy and loved generously. I will miss his presence in this life greatly.
