Vita Mae Bates

Vita Mae Bates, 85, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on January 19, 1935, to Jackie Plaia LaSalle and Sam Charles LaSalle, in Beaumont. Vita retired as a registered nurse from Baptist Hospital after forty years of service. She assisted in establishing the first intensive care unit in Beaumont. She loved animals and gardening and was member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Survivors include her cousins and many dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Sam LaSalle; husband, Bill Bates; and dear friend, Ida Brown.

A funeral service for Mrs. Bates’ will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2020, at Broussard’s 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
