Wesley Paul Coe

A true hero and family man, Wesley Paul Coe, 55, of Beaumont, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Kountze, Texas. Patriarch of the Coe family and an immeasurable and irreplaceable part of the Overhead Door Corporation in Beaumont and beyond, where he began working for his father over 40 years ago, Wes was truly the perfect, and most well-rounded man. He led a life that most only dream about. His heart was bigger than the Texas sky and he loved with every ounce of it and more. Wes was born 5th out of seven children to Rose Wisnoski Coe and Buford F. Coe in Houston on January 7, 1963. He was Co-Owner of Overhead Door Company of Beaumont, Central Texas, Dayton, Jasper, Lake Charles, Lake Conroe and Lufkin.

Outside of his beloved Overhead Door, his son, Travis was his world. It wasn’t long before both of their worlds changed, and their hearts grew a whole lot bigger when Wes met and married his bride, Sarah. He could not wait to ask her to marry him, he proposed in his truck in the Kroger parking lot right after he picked up her ring. With this beautiful and adored marriage, Wes gained two daughters, a Grandson and his favorite (fur) child, Zoey. Travis gained two sisters, became an uncle and a dog that he treated like a baby just as his father did. It was a love that was immediate and one that will last forever. Wes loved his bonus daughters and grandson just like his very own and they absolutely did the same and were so thankful to finally get the brother they always wanted. He was so ready for more grandbabies and always wanted the family to be together celebrating every milestone and getting together just because being together as a family was his favorite pastime. The way he truly loved his bride was portrayed through him every day with that little smirk and by the way he would look at her. This family was brought together by the grace of God and was truly a fairy tale and will continue to be for our Wessy.

Wes enjoyed life to the fullest and longed to be doing something he enjoyed all day, every day; he rarely sat still long enough to finish a movie. He was the ultimate family man and loved that he was raised with so many brothers and sisters that were some of his best friends. It takes a special kind of relationship and love to run a successful business with essentially your entire family and Wes could not have been more proud to work alongside and every day with his family. It’s a true rarity to work with your Mom, and Wes got to work his Mom his entire life as she’s 91 and still works at OHD every day. He looked forward to hunting season at the lease with his son, brother, and several close friends. He loved being captain of his boat and taking his family out to the river, lake or ocean for fishing, tubing and just enjoying the peacefulness that being on the water brings. In fact, the only song he had downloaded on his phone was, “Buy Me a Boat” by Chris Janson. A huge part of his life and a passion he so dearly loved was being a leader and mentor for the Boy Scouts of America from Cubs Scouts Pack 10 to Boy Scouts Troop 10. Wes was involved for over 13 years and loved every minute he got to spend with his son and many others. His son earning his Eagle Scout was one of his proudest moments. He and Sarah were frequent visitors of The Golden Nugget where he usually had tremendous luck and always had so much fun that they went just about any weekend they could. If you asked Wes what a few of his favorite things were he would say blue bell, listening to AM radio, a cold beer, tractor supply, early morning grocery store trips with his bride, feeding his chickens that he individually named, spending the summer days in the pool, and helping anyone and everyone in any way he possibly could. One of the many amazing attributes most know about Wes was that he was the ultimate Mr. Fix It. There was nothing he could not fix and if he didn’t know how, he would find a way. He had a sense of humor that not just anyone got to see, but if you were lucky enough to know Wes and his silly side, it consisted of smiling so big it hurt and listening to that chuckle that we all wish we could here again.

Wes’s impact on his family, friends, work family and so many others will be cherished and spoken for now and forever. Although life throws us things, we think we cannot handle, just as his passing has, please remember the “Wes way” and “What would Wes do?” Wes would tell us to keep pushing, keep striving to be our very best and live a life full of hard work, passion and most of all, love. Wes loved with his whole, big heart and it was truly contagious.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Coe; son, Travis Coe of College Station; daughters, Hannah Fracht and her husband Matt, of Sour Lake and Kayla Fox and her husband, Ross of China; Mom, Rose Coe of Beaumont; Brothers, Gary Coe and his wife, Gayla, Rick Coe and his wife, Mary; and Steve Coe, all of Beaumont; sisters, Barbara Morris of The Woodlands and Kathy Moff and her husband, Don of Beaumont; brother-in-law and sister, Mark and Patsy Johnston of China; Grandson, Cade Canizales; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and all of his Overhead Door family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Buford Coe; brother Ronnie Coe; and nephew Jordan Coe.

A gathering of Mr. Coe’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Beaumont’s First Baptist Church, 3739 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His interment will follow at China Cemetery, China.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wes to Boy Scouts of America Troop 10, P.O. Box 720, China, Texas 77613.

The family has asked that everyone wear red in honor of Wes and is beloved Overhead Door Company.
