Allen "Red" Walker, Jr.

Allen “Red” Walker, Jr., 92, of Port Neches, died Friday, July 23, 2021. He was born May 20, 1929, in Morrow, Louisiana, to Annie Regina Cupit Walker and Allen E. Walker, Sr.

Red was a United States Army veteran. He retired from Arco after twenty-eight years of employment. In his earlier years he was even a pilot. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he loved playing music. Red was self-taught on many instruments, and he especially loved bluegrass and gospel music.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Mary Walker, of Port Neches; children, Debra Walker Richardson and husband, Jay; Allen E. Walker III, all of Nederland; and Catherine Walker, of Port Neches; grandchildren, Courtney; Jay, Jr.; Emily; Eric; Erin; Kandi; and Bambi; twelve great-grandchildren; and brothers, Daniel Floyd Walker and wife, Barbara and Charles Ray Walker and wife, Jan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Allen, Sr.; son, Kenneth Walker; and siblings, Lenora Pierce; Arnold Walker; James B. Walker; and Julia Ann Harrell.

A gathering of Mr. Walker’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
