Alma Fay Hebert

November 10, 1924 - November 20, 2017

Alma Fay Hebert, 93, of Kountze, died Monday, November 20, 2017, at Village Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, Lumberton. She was born on November 10, 1924, in Stephenville, to Lenora Leona Loftin and Herbert Crow Love Long. Alma graduated from Hotel Dieu Nursing School in January of 1945, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Kountze Nursing Home. She also served in the United States Army Nurses Corps during World War II. Alma later served as Historian and then President of the Hotel Dieu Alumni Association for many years. As a local artist Alma operated Alma’s Arts from home in Sour Lake between 1979 and 2012.

 

Survivors include her children, Judy Mullins and her husband, James, of Corpus Christi; Ken Hebert and his wife, Sharon, of Lumberton; Lenora Fosdick of Clovis, California; and Linda Blanton and her husband, Leaman, of Pearland; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alma is preceded in death by her parents; husband of fifty-eight years, Ivan Hebert; brothers, H.C. Long and Elmer Long; and sister, Ruby Byrum.

 

A gathering of Mrs. Hebert’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Kirbyville Cemetery, Kirbyville.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grayburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 347, Sour Lake, Texas 77659.

Our prayers are with our close, but distant relatives. We were blessed to have Aunt Alma visit us in Charlotte a few years ago so we could hear all the stories our mother, Ruby, didn't tell us!
