Andrew Carlos, Sr.

Andrew Joseph Carlos, Sr., 81, of Groves, Texas, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 10, 2018, at Houston Methodist Hospital. He was born March 14, 1937, in Dulac, Louisiana, to Azalie Luke Carlos Callahan and Bartaholomew Carlos.

He married Lera Socia Carlos August 16, 1976, in Beaumont, Texas. He worked for many years as a captain of a shrimp boat which he loved because he enjoyed fishing and simply being on the water. Andrew truly lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as, chatting and visiting with friends and family, fishing in Houma, Louisiana, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Abundant Life Sanctuary where he served his Lord and Savior.

Survivors include his wife, Lera Socia Carlos, of Groves, Texas; children, Ernie Demahy and his wife, Jamie, of Oyster Creek, Texas; Troy Voisin, of Bayou Vista, Louisiana; Andrea Carlos Hutchinson and her husband, Dwayne, of Manvel, Texas; Andrew “Woody” Joseph Carlos, Jr. and his wife, Janiece, of Gray, Louisiana; Terry Carlos and his wife, Devi, of The Woodlands, Texas; Candy Robinson and her husband, Patrick; Anthony Carlos, all of Groves, Texas; Catherine Carlos Dupre and her husband, Randy, of Gray, Louisiana; grandchildren, Brantley III, Jordan, Isabella, Matthew, Nathan, Jonathan, Patrick Andrew, Hailey, Ashlen, Abigail, Jordan Shea, Taylor, and Olivia; sister, Geraldine Liner; brothers, Constant, Gary, Sterling, and Desiré Callahan; and numerous nieces; nephews; and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Azalie and Bartaholomew Carlos; brothers, Randolph, Willie, Norris, and Oris Carlos; and sisters, Ella Nora Carlos Gutierrez; Dolores Carlos Rosemond; Junetta Carlos Boudreaux; Orellia Carlos Pellegrin; Hilda Duplantis; Dorothy Lirette; and Emma Carlos.

A gathering of Mr. Carlos’ family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2018, at Abundant Life Sanctuary, 2301 West Parkway Street, Groves. His funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018, at Abundant Life Sanctuary, Groves, with Brother Myer and Brother Cochran officiating. Services will be under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A family committal will be at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
