Anne Cruz Flores

May 03, 1935 - December 25, 2018

Anne Flores

Anne Cruz Flores spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning of this year surrounded by her earthly family.  On Christmas Day at 2:33 p.m., Anne joined her heavenly family.

Anne was 83 at the time of her death.  She was born on May 3, 1935 to Catherine Ruiz Flores and Francisco Flores, in Beaumont.

Anne was a life-long resident of Beaumont and a graduate of St. Anthony High School.  She worked for over thirty years for Coburn Supply and had many special memories of her co-workers.

Anne loved to dance and spent many a weekend as a teen clearing the family living room floor of all furniture and hosting impromptu “sock hops” with her twin brother Roberto and all their friends from the Cristo Rey Church Catholic Youth Organization.  That love of dancing continued into adulthood where she would join family and friends to dance the night away at the Harvest Club, the American Legion Hall, and the Knights of Columbus Hall all in Beaumont as well as the Port Arthur Pleasure Pier.

Anne loved her fast food take-out, especially Wendy’s and Dairy Queen.  She also loved take-out Mexican food from Elena’s Restaurant and delivery from Taqueria Paraiso, both in the Avenues Neighborhood of Beaumont where she lived all her life.  Anne also loved Christmas poinsettias and giant candy-stuffed Christmas stockings as well as Easter lilies and marshmallow Peeps.

Anne loved watching television and enjoyed watching the CBS Evening News, although she would often say there was never anything good to see on it except Scott Pelley the anchorman.  She spent Sunday evenings watching The Lawrence Welk Show, Tuesday evenings watching the original Hawaii 5-0(she had a not-so-secret crush on Jack Lord the actor who played Detective Steve McGarrett) and weekdays watching the soap opera The Young and the Restless.

Anne was very proud of her Hispanic heritage and committed herself to improvement of her lifelong Avenues Neighborhood.  She was a founding member of Cristo Rey Church Catholic Youth Organization, a founding member of The Hispanic Community for Progress Organization which hosted Beaumont’s first official Cinco de Mayo Celebration, a founding member of the League of United Latin American Citizens Council 4410, and a founding member of The Avenues Neighborhood Association.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Louis Flores and his wife Bea, and her older sister Ramona Flores.

Survivors include her twin brother, Roberto Flores, Sr., and his wife, Ella, of Beaumont; nephew, Rob Flores, Jr., and his wife, Lisa, of Mauriceville; niece, Mary Flores Pacella, of Beaumont; nephew, Anthony Pacella, of Beaumont; niece, Jeanine Flores Howard, and her husband, Steve, of Vidor; many great nieces, nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Miss. Flores’ family and friends will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday, December 28, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

Mom and Annie were in the CYO together, danced together and worked at Coburns together.. They knew each other most of their lives and in their older years lived around the corner from each other and Cristo Rey Church.. Much love to the family and peace knowing she is in Heaven.

Rob, I’m so sorry about your Aunt and her passing on Christmas Day. I’m sorry that your Christmas ? didn’t turn out the way you hoped it would. From reading ? her obituary, I know in my heart that she loved you and your whole family with so much love and dedication that will leave you and your family with everlasting memories for years to come. To the Family, so sorry for your loss. Hope you will be comforted in knowing that Anne has the prospect of being resurrected, healthy (in the flesh), to Paradise Earth just as Jehovah God has promised. In fact , the vast majority will enjoy everlasting life right here on earth as God had intended from the beginning. God's Kingdom will do this under the rule of Jesus Christ.
