Anne Marie Broussard Carnes

May 14, 1959 - May 11, 2017

Anne Marie Broussard Carnes, 57, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017, in Horseshoe Bay.  A resident of Johnson City, Anne was born in Beaumont to Louis and Jane Toomey Broussard.  After graduating from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in Beaumont, Anne attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Land Management and was a very active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.  After graduation, Anne worked in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Denver until her retirement in 2010.  After retiring, Anne and her husband, Rod, decided to escape the big city life and moved to the beautiful Texas Hill Country, settling in the small town of Johnson City.

Anne loved outdoor adventures, never shying away from a challenge.  She and Rod traveled throughout the western United States and Mexico, hiking, fishing, river running, horseback riding, and motorcycling, witnessing firsthand the beauty of the varied terrains.  Her two favorite places were their ranch in the Big Bend country of West Texas and an outfitting guide station called Ranch Del Rio on the Colorado River in Colorado.  Her many friends and family who enjoyed these adventures with Anne will sorely miss her love for adventure and spirited good nature.

Anne is survived by her husband, Guy Rodney “Rod” Carnes; parents, Jane Broussard and Louis Broussard, Sr. and his wife, Ailene; four siblings: Mary Jane Broussard, Louis Broussard, Jr. and his wife, Michele; Ben Broussard and his wife, Jamie; and Mark Broussard and his wife, Aimee; and stepdaughter, Kelly Martin.  She is also survived by many other loving relatives and dear friends who remember Anne as a kind and gentle soul who loved and cared for everyone.

A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Carnes will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, followed by a gathering in the parish hall to remember and pay tribute to a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 700 North Street, Suite M,  Beaumont, Texas 77701; or St. Anne Catholic Church, 2715 Calder Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77702.
