Arnold Dorsey

January 18, 1920 - February 14, 2020

Arnold Lee Dorsey, Jr., 100, of Nederland, died Friday, February 14, 2020. He was born on January 18, 1920, in Wellsburg, West Virginia, and adopted by Ada B. Clay Dorsey and Arnold Lee Dorsey.

Mr. Dorsey was a man that loved helping other people. In his youth he worked his family’s dairy farm in West Virginia and loved to tell of those years. He met his wife, Isabelle, while delivering milk. He worked at the atomic plant during World War II under high security clearance. Around 1959, he gained a job in the refinery in Texas and moved here where he has been a resident in Nederland ever since.

Mr. Dorsey served faithfully as the sound man for Pastor Frank Williams at Magnolia Assembly of God and also served on the Board of Trustees for several years. He was a member of the Golden Triangle Antique Car Club for several years. He retired from Mobile Chemical in Beaumont where he worked as an instrument technician. There wasn’t much he couldn’t do or fix, and he spent many hours helping his son-in-law, T.J., in his garage making cam bearings for his business. He loved his family dearly and was always smiling. He never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his children, Emma Lynne Parker and her husband, T.J. and James Dorsey, both of Nederland; grandchild, Jo Lynne Bent and her husband, Jason; and great-grandchildren, Emily, Evan, and Eli Bent, all of Montgomery.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Isabelle Frances Dorsey; and siblings, Ross Dorsey; James Dorsey; Bernice; and Evelyn.

A gathering of Mr. Dorsey’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Harbor Assembly of God Building Fund, P.O. Box 1135, Nederland, Texas 77627.
