Benita Odom

Benita “Nita” Marie Odom, 83, of Beaumont, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, Nita was born on August 10, 1934, to Santina Mary Battaglia and David A. DeFatta.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Dickson and her husband, Richard; Dennis “Doc” Odom, Jr. and his wife, Mari; Sharon “Christina” Odom; Tena Odom Cobb; and David Odom and his wife, Teri; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Bruno; brother-in-law, Charles Bruno; nieces, Charlotte Ann Miller and Ina Kay Pace; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Nita is preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Herbert Odom, Sr.; parents; and granddaughter, Laura Dickson.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the caregivers with Gentiva Hospice and Montebello Homecare, Virginia and Ilihana, Stacy Odom, and Rueben Reyes.

A gathering of Mrs. Odom’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with her Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5075 Bigner Road, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
