Betty Bernice Casey
Betty Bernice Casey, 87, of Menard, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021. She was born August 30, 1933, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Rachel Lucille Slayten and Elmer Lasco Connett.
Betty is survived by her sons, Tony Casey and wife, Mary, of Menard; Keith Casey and wife, Rilla, of Beaumont; Cary Casey and wife, Rose, of Sour Lake; and Rick Casey and wife, Ruth, of Benbrook; eleven grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Welch; and three half-sisters, Deborah Bounds; Carolyn Quillin; and Marilyn Tweet; and one half-brother, Kenneth Maxey.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of nearly sixty-five years, Bill Casey; and her sister, Rebecca Davis.
A gathering of Mrs. Casey’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 13, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2021, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Betty was a gift to the world. She believed in serving others. During her senior years Betty volunteered with the Red Cross. She traveled to many places where Red Cross sent her to help others. Betty was niece to our Mother. Betty stayed close to our Mom through the years! When Mother had a heart attack Betty and Bill came. to Spokane to be with her. My Sister, Cheryl and I can be very aggressive! Betty presented as soft, sweet and beautiful! We were insisting someone stay with our Mom in the hospital room. The nurses were saying no one could stay in ICU. Bill said to the Nurse, "They (meaning me and my sister) will keep raising cane till someone can stay. Do you want them or my wife, who will sit quietly.' The Nurse chose to have Betty stay. We have laughed over that quote for years, "Do you want THEM or my wife?' Beautiful, sweet, unassuming, Betty. We were eternally grateful for the way she cared for our Mother. Betty was a gift to the world and will be missed. Love Cheryl & Kay
