Betty Cherry

Betty Corine Cherry, 85, of Kountze, died Saturday, October 12, 2019. She was born on March 21, 1934, in Moss Hill, to Virginia Primrose Largent and William Floyd Largent.

Survivors include her children, Virginia Black of Kountze; Peggy Lemon and her husband, Michael, of Port Angeles, Washington; Rickey Cherry and his wife, Toni, of Dayton; Walter Johnson and his wife, Teresa, of Rainbow City, Alabama; Rita Cherry of Port Angeles, Washington; Ronny Cherry and his wife, Sylvia, of Humble; Sharon Cherry of Woodville; and Jeff Cherry and his wife, Shanna, of Big Sandy; brother, Floyd Largent; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of thirty-eight years, Homer Cherry; sons, Mickey Johnson and Roger Cherry; and daughter, Susan Kirkendall.

A gathering of Betty’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 9066 FM 1293 Road, Kountze. Her interment will follow at Big Sandy Cemetery, Big Sandy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Honey Island, 9066 FM 1293 Road, Kountze, Texas 77625.
