Betty F. Adams

May 23, 1938 - May 1, 2019

Betty F. Adams, 80, of Nederland, died Wednesday, May 1, 2019. She was born on May 23, 1938, in Lillie, Louisiana, to Gladys Marie Upshaw Everett and Clete Elkins Everett.

Betty married the love of her life, John Adams, in September of 1955.   Together they had 3 children and began to build a life of 63 years together. Betty was a “people” person, and she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Her family was her first love, and you would see her proudly supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-children at football games, basketball games, recitals, and other extra-curricular activities. One of her favorite times of the year was Christmas Eve where she planned many activities to celebrate Jesus.   Betty was in charge of the night, and everyone knew it!

Never one to miss a good game, Betty would spend hours playing Bingo with her friends. Her love of adventure led her to cruise to different locations. You could even find her playing Bingo on the ship!

She loved to collect many things.   A few of her collections included coins, piggy banks, All God’s Children statues, and most importantly, crosses. Crosses symbolized the great love she had for Christ and the love she shared with her husband for their church.

Survivors include her husband, John Adams of Nederland; son, Bobby Adams and his wife, Sylvia, of Bridge City; daughters, Cindy Durden and her husband, Carl; and Robbie Richards and her husband, David, all of Port Neches; nine grandchildren, Corey Adams; Trista Leonard and her husband, Kevin; Aaron Durden and his wife, Heather; and Candace Field and her husband, Freeman; Cheree Kibodeaux and her husband, Shane; Barry Richards; Joshua Lambert and Cindy Huang; Ashley Lopez and her husband, Kyle; Colt Richards and Morgan Barbay; and fifteen great-grandchildren, Layden, Camden, Keaton, Adalyn, Reid, Ansley, Kamryn, Fairley, John (J.D.), Madilynn, Joel, Lexi, Ashton, Rayce, and Peyton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Charles Everett.

A gathering of Mrs. Adams’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at Broussard’s, Nederland. Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the children/youth scholarship fund at Carpenter’s Way Church, 5220 Monroe Boulevard, Groves, Texas 77619.
