Billie Herman Bice

November 30, 1931 - May 28, 2017

Billie Bice was born November 30, 1931 in Dayton, Texas. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he also graduated in 1958 from Lamar University with a degree in Geology. Billie retired after many years with Oryx Energy and has been a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana for 47 years. He enjoyed many hobbies in his life, loved the outdoors, fishing and deer hunting. He was a talented singer and a musician of both the trumpet and guitar. A barbecue connoisseur, he was well-known for his smoked turkey, chicken and ribs, something his family always looked forward to at gatherings. Always involved in his children’s activities, he was active as a coach in little league, as well as, football league.  Billie’s most precious times were those spent with the ones he loved the most, his children and his grandchildren. On Sunday, May 28, 2017, after battling pancreatic cancer for over four years, he went to be with his Lord and Savior. Billie will be dearly missed by all those that loved him. 

Billie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Anita Strickland Bice; daughters, Kaylin Ann Bice, Keverly Bice Lattier and husband Earl Jr.;  son, Blane Bice and wife Lynne Ann;  sisters, Betty King and Beverly Kiker; seven grandchildren, Lacy Medlin, Terrin Guilbeau, Brittyn and Gavin LaCombe, Breann Broussard, Deacon and Ranger Romero;  three step-grandchildren, Michael Bertrand, Zachary and Lucas Lattier; seven great grandchildren, Cullen, Sawyer and Bowen Guilbeau, River Medlin, Adam LaCombe, Ady Leigh and Macoy Broussard.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Brett Cole Bice; parents, Addie Maggie Lee Cole Bice and Herman Bird Bice; and sister Bobbie Eddleman. 

A gathering of Mr. Bice’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Broussard’s Chapel, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie, Texas, with Reverend Kenneth Hodges, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Winnie, conducting the service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Winnie.    

Pallbearers will be Deacon Romero, Ranger Romero, Earl Lattier Jr, Erwin LeBlanc, Kyle Devillier and Yale Devillier. Honorary pallbearers will be Gavin LaCombe and Michael Bertrand.  

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Karen Roden and staff, Jonathan Bourque and Hospice of Acadiana.
