Bobby Joe Sutton

August 20, 1944 - July 27, 2020

Bobby Joe Sutton, 75, of Vidor, died Monday, July 27, 2020. He was born on August 20, 1944, in LeCompte, Louisiana, to Gwendolyn Deverne Davidson Sutton and Jarrett William Sutton. He was known as Bob, Bobby, BJ, Mr. Sutton, Uncle, Dad and his favorites were Honey and Paw Paw.

Bob went to Port Neches High School and then to Spangdahlem, Germany with the United States Air Force. He met Janice in Germany and they’ve been married for 55 years. Bob worked for Neches Butane and Dupont/Beaumont Works as a union pipefitter, Local 195. He was very active at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor. He was a Deacon, went on mission trips and enjoyed many years “doing Children’s Church”. Bob was also a Past Master of Pine Forest Masonic Lodge #1420. He coached Little League and was a Boy Scout leader. Bob so enjoyed taking an active role in his church and community. The family would call Bob a “Human Encyclopedia”, he loved to read and retained all kind of facts. We never knew when he was going to blurt out some obscure fact. He was a wonderful man, the center of our family, we will miss him every day; always with smiles on our faces.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Sutton; daughter, Michelle Lawson and her friend, Don Mancini; son, Rob Sutton and his wife, Meg; brothers, John Sutton and David Kirkpatrick; son in law, Jim Lawson, and grandchildren, Korin Lawson, Katelynn Johnson and her husband, Zach, Carter Lawson, and Killian Sutton; great grandchild Baby Johnson (coming soon); and furry companions, Jäger and Jazmyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father, Jarret Sutton; mother, Gwen Kirkpatrick; stepfather, Solomon Kirkpatrick; brothers, Jarrett William Sutton, Jr. and Brian Keith Kirkpatrick; and grandparents, John and Grace Davidson and John and Carrie Sutton.
