Bobby Jones

May 26, 1941 - January 12, 2018

Bobby Jones, 76, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 12, 2018.

Bobby was born May 26, 1941, in Jasper, Texas. He was the first child in a family of six born to Helen Day Jones and Jesse LeRoy Jones. He grew up in Evadale, Texas, and attended school in Buna, Texas. Growing up in the 50’s in a small town in East Texas provided experiences most kids could only dream about. There were horses to ride, which sometimes included swimming them across the Neches River and campouts with his brothers in the woods behind his home. His selling career began during those teenage years selling watermelons and cantaloupes with his brother Jerry alongside his Daddy.

After a short career as a barber he decided in 1965 he wanted to sell cars. Joe Bob Kinsel, Sr. hired Bobby in October 1965. He continued his employment with the Kinsel Family for over fifty-two years. He loved every minute he spent with the Kinsel Family of Employees. People came and went from the dealership but he never forgot the relationships he made with those employees. Whether those relationships were fellow employees or customers he loved them all and told them so on many occasions. He loved people, plain and simple. He was an incredible encourager always inspiring people to reach higher and believe in themselves. Bobby’s journey with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ began anew around 1982 at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church. He inspired those he met to join him in that walk. His leadership at Westgate influenced two very impressionable young sons. Derrick and Craig followed the lead of their Dad into service at their respective churches and communities.

Bobby is survived by Gayle Jones, his wife of fifty-two years; sons, Derrick Jones and his wife, Shannon; their children, Avery, Carter and Berkley, of The Woodlands, Texas; Craig Jones and his wife, Cissy; their children, Hudson, Elle and Georgia of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Jerry Jones of Evadale, Texas and Jimmy Jones and wife, Joyce Jones, of Evadale, Texas; sister-in-law, Pat Jones of Evadale, Texas; Linda Jones McMillan and her husband, C.J. McMillan, of Kirbyville, Texas; and David Jones and his wife, Cheryl, of Evadale, Texas.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and LeRoy Jones; brother, Roby Jones; and sister-in-law, Wanda Jones of Evadale, Texas.

Gayle, Derrick, Shannon, Avery, Carter, Berkley, Craig, Cissy, Hudson, Elle, and Georgia will serve as loving pallbearers.

A gathering of Mr. Jones’ family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, Beaumont, with his interment to follow at Morse Cemetery, Buna, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Bobby was the sweetest and most positive person I've ever had the pleasure to work with (for 20+years). Over the years I sent many people to buy a car from him and they all loved him, including my parents. He was always happy and upbeat and was the epitome of the type person we should all strive to be. He also loved the home grown tomatoes I used to bring him when we were gardening. Heaven gained another angel. Praying for Gayle and family during this difficult time.

I worked with Bobby for 15 years at Kinsel and I have been blessed with knowing the kindest man I have ever met. Each time I saw Bobby Jones he not only asked about how I was doing but asked about how my family was doing... each by name. His smile and his sincere caring of others was always genuine. If I can take his traits with me forward I will become a better person because of Bobby. Poet Thomas Campbell....”To live on in hearts we leave behind is to never die.” Gayle, wishing you and your family Peace. With love and heartfelt respect, Cindy Yohe Lindsay
