Bobbye Soper

February 19, 1931 - February 26, 2020

Bobbye Soper, 89, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Calder Woods, Beaumont. She was born on February 19, 1931, to Othello and Thomas Byron Smith, in Fouke Arkansas. She was very active in her church and was a volunteer at the Hope Center and Some Other Place in her spare time. Bobbye was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed reading her Bible. Bobbye was an excellent cook, enjoyed sewing and made a happy home for her family. Whatever she did, she did well.

Survivors include her husband of seventy years, Harley Soper; son, Steven M. Soper and his wife, Nancy, of Missoula, Montana; daughter, Jean Jones and her husband, Steve, of Magnolia; son, Tom Soper of Beaumont; grandchildren, Erin Anderson and her husband, Mike; Sarah Crouch and her husband, Robert; Luke Soper and his wife, Bobbi; Ross Jones; Jordan Soper; and Alex Soper; and great-grandchildren, Sidney Anderson, Darin Anderson, Chase Walker, Cameron Walker, Riley Crouch, Cole Soper, Molly Soper, and Gus Soper.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Bivens, Gwen Musgrove, and Sidney McClintock.

A gathering of Mrs. Soper’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate, Beaumont. A graveside service will be at 12:45 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westgate Memorial Baptist Benevolence Fund, 6220 Westgate, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

Aunt Bobbye was a very sweet lady, and always soft spoken like her sister, Gwen, my Stepmom. She was always very kind to me. I know she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
