C.L. “Butch” McClain

March 7, 1943 - April 16, 2017

Carroll L. “Butch” McClain, 74, of Beaumont, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at 6:22 a.m., at Christus Hospital- St. Elizabeth in Beaumont, Texas, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s.

He was born on March 7, 1943, to Valina Martin McClain and Reverend E.L. McClain in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He was married to Linda Linscomb McClain of Beaumont, on June 26, 1965. He attended Stephen F. Austin College in Nacogdoches, Texas. And worked at Nipco, in Nacogdoches. Union Carbide, 10 years. After 25 years of service, he retired from Exxon Mobil in Beaumont as a supervisor in operations. He was beloved by his fellow operators as “two cents”.

He was an active and faithful Christian man. He was involved in bus ministry, Sunday school ministry, head usher, and board member of The Apostolic Church in Beaumont.

Survivors include wife, Linda McClain; daughter, Wendy Stone and her husband, M. David Stone, of Austin; sons, Keith McClain, Kerry McClain, and Troy McClain, all of Beaumont, and Trevor McClain and Nathan McClain, both of Nederland; grandchildren, Morgan McClain, Madison McClain, Meredith McClain, Ryan McClain, Joshua McClain, and Marissa McClain, all of Beaumont; and M. London and Aven Stone, both of Austin; sister, Anita Shelton; brother, Guy McClain; and sister-in-law, Vonda McClain.

He is preceded in death by parents; brothers, Eugene and Reverend O.W. McClain; sister, Joyce Smith and her husband, Thurman; and brother-in-law, Bobby Shelton.

A gathering of Mr. McClain’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2017, at The Apostolic Church, Beaumont His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017, at The Apostolic Church, 3333 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, with Reverend Darren Shelton and Reverend Jason Carr presiding. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
