Carolyn Karnes Besson

February 25, 1946 - September 13, 2017

Carolyn Jeanette Karnes Besson, 71, of Beaumont, died Friday, September 13, 2017, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on February 25, 1946, to Ethel Mae Williams Karnes and James Elmas Karnes in Orange. Carolyn was an educator for twenty-two years with Silsbee ISD.

She had a deep and personal relationship with God and felt sorry for people that didn’t have that assurance of going to Heaven. Her favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Carolyn had a great outlook on life and kept her hope and faith until the end. Words that would describe Carolyn were private, disciplined, prudent, calm, economical and dependable. Everyone that knew Carolyn respected her honesty and trustworthiness. Advice often given by Carolyn was “Education is your ticket to everything.” and “Sleep on it.”

Survivors include her siblings, Betty Jean Karnes Lawrence of Beaumont and James Richard Karnes of Austin; stepson, Michael Besson, Jr. of Missouri City; four nieces; two nephews; five great-nieces; three great-nephews; eight great-great-nieces and nephews; and lots of cousins and lots of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Michael Besson, Sr.

A gathering of Mrs. Besson’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Burial of Mrs., Besson’s cremated body will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Highway 90 West at Greenpond Road, Beaumont. A private committal was held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

Mrs. Besson was a great person. She was so kind when she came to see me at our Credit Union. I waited on her for years before I retired. I know her family will miss her but Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
