Charles Henderson

August 9, 1944 - October 9, 2018

Charles Morris Henderson, 74, of Lumberton, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at Christus Hospital-St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on August 9, 1944, to Elizabeth Whitehead Henderson and Hubert Morris Henderson, in McAllen, and was a United States Army veteran. Charles retired in 1992 as a Captain with Beaumont Police Department after 26 years of service. After his retirement, he was a private investigator and process server. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved taking care of all of his girls, including his beautiful granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jerry Lou Henderson; daughters, Lisa Michelle Cecil and her husband, Mike, of Grapeland and Debra Lynn Henderson of Cedar Park; brothers, Herschel Henderson and his wife, Louise, of Buda and Robert David “Buddy” Henderson and his wife, Darlene, of Marshall; granddaughter, Taylor Nicole Benoit of Bridge City; brother-in-law, Corky Johnson and his wife, Mary, of Lumberton; sister-in-law, Judy Weinburger and her husband, Gary, of Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Kevin Wayne Johnson.

A gathering of Mr. Henderson’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
